Walk Your Faith
The Christian faith is anything but sleepy; it is to be active, passionate and fruitful. Jesus told His followers that it was characteristic of His people to be "the salt of the earth." He said, "...if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:13:16)
In the public forum the Christian presence is all but extinct. Anti-faith and anti-religious laws have been passed right under our noses without as much as a whimper coming from Christians. We're to stand for righteousness even if it looks impossible.
Should You Get Involved In Politics?
Many Christians avoid public service because it seems corrupt and dirty. Yet, is it possible that political life has degenerated because people with strong moral standards have shunned it? The Bible has some surprising messages for us about duty to our government.
As a church, we want to honor Jesus Christ in every area of life (Colossians 3:23). We want to encourage one another to love and good works (Hebrews10:24). All things should be done through prayer, supplication and faith in action according to God's Word (Ephesians 6:18, James 4:17).
As the nature of citizenship involves varying viewpoints, it is important to please be sensitive to the differences of the opinions of others (Romans 12:18). We are not here to argue politics or to side with political parties, we are here to offer tools for the purpose of furthering the Gospel and the well being of others through Christ honoring, Biblical and family friendly laws and influences in our society.
